Welcome!

At Recovery Guitar, we offer support and inspiration through music and a shared love of guitar for anyone in active recovery from addiction. Our mission is to get people excited again about living their lives sober by tapping into the incredible healing and energizing power of music.

As a therapeutic tool, the guitar is a uniquely positive, healthy way to ease feelings of anxiety, discontent, and boredom that we can experience day to day by replacing them with relaxation, focus, purpose, and fulfillment.

Right here, in this space, we offer a positive outlet for people who either want to pick up a new rewarding hobby, or respark their love of playing guitar, with FREE live seminars, FREE group listening sessions, FREE guitar resources, and more, plus our weekly resource-packed newsletter called the Mojo Uplift.

It’s all about reclaiming joy in life again with a guitar in hand. And it’s way more fun if we do this together as a community.

About Me

Hey! I’m Eric, founder of Recovery Guitar, life-long musician, producer, educator, and Great Dane lover—nice to meet you.

Through my career, I’ve taught tens of thousands of people how to play the guitar and bass through books, online courses, and in-person trainings.

I’ve been fortunate to have worked on projects for Disney, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Beatles (Apple Corps), Neil Young, Pearl Jam, Steve Vai, and more, and have designed and produced programs with many other artists and top music ed. companies around the world.

Teaching, playing, recording, and generally nerding out about music is my passion and it still excites me every single day after many, many years.

The idea of creating Recovery Guitar came to me after having battled my own years-long addiction to alcohol, and seeing so many others around me struggle in the same way.

I personally experienced so much misery, anxiety, doom, guilt and self-loathing during that time that it was truly overwhelming, yet so incredibly difficult to escape. If you’ve been there, then this probably sounds all too familiar to you.

But throughout all this, music was always there beside me. Pushing me along with an inspirational song or lyric just in time to get me through the day… waiting for the moment when it would really show how useful a tool it could be in my recovery journey.

And when I was finally able to claw my own way out of the bottomless abyss and live free again, feeling the incredible joys of long-term sobriety, I knew that I needed to help others beat the beast of addiction in any way I could by sharing some of the lessons and resources I’ve picked up along the way.

So, here it is in Recovery Guitar.

If your experience is similar to mine at all, then you know how much addiction can take away. But with the strength of community, a solid set of tools, and a daily commitment to work to get better, I believe we can reclaim and rebuild ourselves to make the comeback of a lifetime—one note at a time.
